Senior moves · Certified Senior Advisor (CSA)®

Your next chapter, without the stress.

Downsizing, moving closer to family, or helping a parent make a move? I’ll plan it with you, at your pace, and take care of the details.

Why it’s different

A move after many years asks a lot.

Leaving a home where you raised your family isn’t like any other sale. There are decades of belongings to sort, decisions about what comes next, and often adult children weighing in from near and far. It’s a lot to carry on your own.

As a Certified Senior Advisor (CSA)®, I’ve trained to help older adults and their families through exactly these moves. I’ll go at your pace, explain every step in plain language, and bring in the right people when you need them, so the move feels like a fresh start instead of a burden.

Who I help

Every Later-Life Move Is Different

Downsizing

Less house to clean and maintain, maybe one level instead of three. We’ll find the right size and sell your current home well.

Moving closer to family

Whether the grandkids are across town or across the country, I’ll help you time the sale and the move around your new home.

A 55+ or senior community

From active adult neighborhoods to independent and assisted living, I’ll help you sell your home on the timeline the community needs.

A parent’s or inherited home

Selling a loved one’s home is emotional work. I’ll handle the details and work alongside your attorney and the rest of the family.

How it works

One Step at a Time

1

A no-pressure conversation

We start with your plans, your timing and your worries, at your kitchen table or on a call with family included.

2

A plan and a timeline

Sell first or move first, what the home is worth, and what needs to happen when. You’ll have it all in writing.

3

Sorting and preparing

I’ll connect you with movers, organizers, estate-sale companies and contractors, and tell you honestly which updates are worth it.

4

Selling the home

Professional photos, Compass marketing and careful pricing, with showings scheduled around your routine.

5

Moving day and after

I’ll stay on through settlement and make sure the details are handled, so you can focus on settling in.

When family is helping

Everyone in the loop, no one overwhelmed.

Many of these moves are a family effort, and sometimes the family is spread across several states. I’m happy to set up one point person, send regular updates, and include sons and daughters on calls so everyone hears the same thing at the same time.

For legal, tax and financial questions, I work alongside your attorney, accountant or financial advisor, and can suggest local professionals if you need one. If updates make sense before listing, Compass Concierge can cover the upfront cost of services like painting and flooring, repaid when the home sells.

Client reviews

In My Clients’ Words

Andreas T.
“Tamara did an amazing job helping us find a house in the DC area. She went above and beyond in the house search (19 homes in 1 weekend), closing, and move-in, including coordinating new carpet before we moved in. She understands buying a home while in the military because she’s lived it. I would highly, highly recommend Tamara for anyone PCS’ing to the DC area.”
Johnny K.
“Tamara is simply amazing! As first-time home buyers, we could not have asked for a better person to guide us. Even better, she is honest. When we were impatient and ready to put an offer on an overpriced property, she worked relentlessly to find us a home more suited to our desires and price range.”
Charmaine E.
“Tamara came to the rescue. She helped us find our next home in a matter of weeks, after nearly three months with another agent. She was professional, authentic and knowledgeable, never rushed us, and was honest when a house or location wasn’t a fit.”
Andrea H.
“A friend recommended Tamara to us. Within a few hours of contacting her she sent us information on multiple homes with our specifications. In addition to being very professional, Tamara is also very genuine and a pleasure to work with.”
Stephanie H.
“Tamara was very professional and nice. She really worked with me on scheduling appointments to see homes and making sure we found what we wanted. We are very happy in our new home!”
Questions

Senior Move Questions

What does a Certified Senior Advisor do in a real estate move?

Tamara holds the Certified Senior Advisor (CSA)® designation. She helps older adults and their families plan the whole move, not just the sale: timing, what to keep, which updates are worth making, and how to coordinate with family, movers and other advisors.

Should I sell my home first or move first?

It depends on your finances and where you’re moving. Some people move to a senior community first and sell an empty house, which is easier to show. Others need the sale proceeds before they buy. Tamara will walk through both options with you, and Compass Bridge Loans may help in some situations.

Do I need to update my home before I sell it?

Not always. Many longtime homes sell well with a deep clean, small repairs and some decluttering. Tamara will tell you honestly which projects are worth it, and Compass Concierge can cover the upfront cost of services like painting and flooring, repaid when the home sells.

Can you help with a parent’s home if I live out of state?

Yes. Tamara keeps adult children updated by phone, email and video, and can meet contractors, movers and estate-sale companies at the house so you don’t have to fly in for every step.

Do you give legal or financial advice?

No. For wills, estates, taxes and benefits, Tamara works alongside your attorney, accountant or financial advisor, and can suggest local professionals if you need one.
